Our first unit in business this semester was Microsoft Word. Personally, this was my favorite unit, as it was the one I understood the most.
I learned how to:
I learned how to:
- make borders around words & pictures
- inserting pictures so they don't split text
- learned how to add a header and footer
- learned how to use tabs, and know when to use each one
- improved my knowledge of the ribbon
- learned subscript and superscript
Another thing we did in Microsoft Word were business letters. I learned how to correctly format a business letter, how to add pictures in headers and footers as mentioned before, write a professional business letter, as well as adding a signature in my letter. I think that forming these letters and completing the assignments were fairly easy. However, an important concept we also learned was mail merge. At the beginning I was very confused, and did not know how to use it. But, over time, I slowly improved, and now can happily say that I am able to work with mail merge, and know how to format it and everything. In general, I think this unit helped me improve my MS Word knowledge even more, and I know it is something that will help me in the future.
Although I felt pretty confident with this unit, I felt that I nevertheless still had things I could improve on. For example, I had trouble with columns, mail merge, and headers and footers. Although I improved my skills in them, I feel that I could improve even more in the future. For columns, I had difficulty putting text into the right shape, and had a hard time sorting the sentences and making it so a certain sentence starts in a certain place. With mail merge, at first I had trouble with transferring data, but then I got the hang of it with practice. With headers and footers, I had problems with having different headers and footers on each page, and that is still something I need to improve on for the future.
